"Lakewood, More Than A Mile High"
"Lakewood, More Than A Mile High"
Lakewood City Song written by Tim Hoffman, City of Lakewood Theater Production Coordinator. It was written for the 40th Anniversary of the incorporation of the City in 2009.
In the early days of Jefferson County,
The people all agreed it was their time
To Incorporate at last, put Lakewood on the map,
The historic year was 1969, the historic year was 1969.
With the Iron Gate of BelMar and the Stone House down below
The Two Creeks and the Eiberhood combined,
Green Mountain and Bear Creek, Mercy Grove up in the Glens,
The sun rose on a new historic time.
The sun rose on a new historic time.
CHORUS: We’re a City growing strong in the heart of Colorado,
Where the history and the cultures come to life.
The people lend a hand and take pride in their land.
We are Lakewood, More than a Mile High.
We are Lakewood, More than a Mile High.
Now Lakewood had a vision for the future,
And a strong and vibrant City it became.
Highway 40 in it’s day left a legacy to stay,
And the Gateway to the Rockies it remains,
And Lakewood shares that legacy today
