South Platte River Bridges

Joined and widened in 1970, the 1951 steel girder ribbed deck arch bridges are rare surviving structures associated with the early development of the Valley Highway, the predecessor to I-25 through the Denver’s central corridor. Crossing the South Platte River and a bike trail to the east of Invesco Field at Mile High, the five spans run for a total of 384 feet, with the main span running for 173 feet. The structures were designed by Crocker & Ryan, fabricated by Midwest Steel & Iron Works, and constructed by Pete Seerie, Inc. Listed under Highway Bridges in Colorado Multiple Property Submission.
