Park Hill Elementary
Park Hill School reflects the history and community of the Park Hill Neighborhood. Built in 1893 and originally known as Park School, the one-room school was eventually replaced by the beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival building that is there today. The ornate entranceway of the Park Hill Elementary School was built in1912. A portion of the current building was constructed in 1901 and throughout the years additions accommodated population growth. Renovated as recently as 2005 with the addition of accessibility ramps, an elevator, new carpet and kitchen flooring, a new roof, fresh paint and window repairs, the school continues to provide for the Park Hill neighborhood. In the early 1900’s, classes at Park Hill Elementary School were integrated though socializing with whites was forbidden. Currently Park Hill is an Early Childhood Education (ECE) through grade 8 DPS public school, focused on providing a broad and rigorous education to a diverse community.
