Old State Museum
Formerly known as the Colorado State Museum. Frank E. Edbrooke designed this former museum to harmonize with the state capitol, which it faces. The three-story Greek Revival building has a Gunnison granite foundation and walls of Colorado Yule marble. Four fluted marble columns with Ionic capitals support a shallow entrance portico. "Colorado State Museum" is inscribed on the frieze. After the museum moved to 1300 Broadway in 1977, the state restored the building for use as offices.
